Acme Hose Company No. 1

East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania

May 22, 2021 – Residential Structure Fire

On May 22, 2021, around 3:13 AM, Acme Hose Co. No. 1 (St. 21) & Stroudsburg Fire Department (St. 38) responded to a reported residential structure fire with flames showing on State Street in East Stroudsburg. Upon the arrival of Chief 21-8 & Chief 38-8, it was found that the fire was contained to an outdoor rubbish pile against the house. The home occupant was able to extinguish most of the fire with a garden hose. Crews from both departments extinguished the remainder of the fire & checked for extension into the house. Some of the siding was burned and melted so crews removed that and found no extension into the house. The interior crew verified that using a thermal imaging camera (TIC). All smoke was vented from the structure & the occupants did not require any medical treatment. Quick thinking by the home’s occupants & the work of the fire crews made sure the house was saved from any further fire damage. Suburban EMS & Stroud Area Region Police were also on scene. Great job done by all!

January 9, 2021 – Ruptured Gas Line

On January 9, 2021 at 11:15 AM, Acme Hose Co. No. 1 was dispatched to an order of gas at 296 Washington St. Upon Chief 21-7’s arrival, it was confirmed that a gas line was ruptured during construction & there was an active gas leak. Stroudsburg Fire Department & Stroud Area Regional Police were called to help control traffic & evacuate the nearby structures until UGI Gas could stop the leak. PPL cut the power to the grid in that area until the affected buildings could be isolated & then restored power to the rest of the grid. UGI contained the leak at approximately 12:30 PM & once the buildings were checked for any gas readings, the occupants were allowed to return. PPL then restored the power as well. The Salvation Army was kind enough to open their building to allow the evacuated occupants to keep warm while they waited.

January 5, 2021 – Vehicle Rollover With Entrapment

On January 5, 2021 at 8:36 PM, Acme Hose Co. No. 1 & Stroudsburg Fire Department were dispatched to a two vehicle rollover MVA with confirmed entrapment in the rolled over vehicle. The MVA was located near the intersection of E. Broad St. & N. Green St. The victim had non-life threatening injuries & was extricated within twenty minutes then transported to LVHN – Pocono Campus for treatment. Stroud Area Regional Police & Suburban EMS also responded to the scene.

2021 – A New Year

As we enter 2021, Acme Hose No. 1 gears up for all the challenges that lay ahead. With the COVID-19 virus in full effect, our fundraising functions have been limited. We are hopeful that we will be able to have the opportunity to hold them again. The Fire Department wishes to thank you for your continued support through these strange and unusual times, and we hope for your continued support through the future. We look forward to once again being out in the community with everyone as soon and as safe as we can. In the meantime, please remember as your VOLUNTEER Fire Department, Acme Hose Co. No 1 will still be there for when you need us.

Thank you, again!
