On Sunday, August 21, 2016, Acme Hose Co. No. 1 was dispatched to assist Stroudsburg Fire Department with a working structure fire with entrapment. All occupants made it out with minor injuries. Unfortunately, a few pet cats & an dog did not make it. The fire was knocked down in a short time with extensive mop-up operations. Stroud Township Fire Department, (St. 37 for manpower & equipment), Pocono Township Fire Department (St. 34 for RIT), Suburban EMS, Salvation Army & Stroud Area Regional Police Department also assisted at the scene.
On July 27, 2016 at 9:00 AM, Acme Hose Co. No. 1 was dispatched to Mountain Fuels on King Street for a reported Diesel Fuel Spill. Upon arrival, it was found that approximately 50 gallons of diesel fuel was on the ground from an unknown source. Stroudsburg Fire Department, Station 38, assisted with containment. Monroe County Emergency Management was also on scene. No diesel fuel made it to the Sambo Creek. With sand & oil absorbent materials down, all units cleared the scene about 2 hours later.
On July 12, 2016, Acme Hose Co. No. 1 responded to a report of a car fire on Victoria Heights Road. Upon approach, heavy black smoke could be seen form a ways out. When the department arrived, they found one car fully involved with explosions from it as the tires stated to blow. A second car parked next to it was threatened. The fire was under control within a few minutes. The car was a total loss & the second car sustained minor to moderate heat damage. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
